Completed Bicycle

After spending a week with Dave Yates in April 2012 building the frame, and getting it painted at Argos Racing Cycles, I’ve now built it up with the Ultegra groupset from my old carbon race bike. The first, original, Chris Vernon bicycle:

The tyres may be German, the Reynolds tubed frame is definitely British though.

That deep green and black looks stylish and yet still fresh – I think that slim steel tubes take colour in a very different way to bulkier alu or carbon ones, and you’ve got it right. A compact chainset on a classically built frame can look out of place, but you’ve got enough of a modern look to get away with it.

Chris – that’s a magnificent looking frame, and the colour choice works a treat. I imagine you already got a sodding great big lock for it because it’ll possibly attract some unwarranted attention.

Thanks for writing up – I’ve thought before about doing that course, and chose the maintenance route instead.

    Cheers. Ben.
